From Now On, A Marriage Proposal Is The Only Way To Survive - Chapter 72
Hwang Bo-Yoon corrected him with his characteristic easygoing smile.
Of all the seniors in the business department, today they seemed to keep running into the “villain” crowd.
Shin-Yeon tugged on Kyung-Joo’s sleeve, seeing her expression twist, and pulled her back.
“You guys go ahead to the restaurant and get a seat.”
Blocking the two with his body, Han Tae-Young jerked his chin for them to leave first.
“Hey~ meeting like this is fate. Let me buy you lunch—come eat with us.”
At that moment, a broad-shouldered senior smiled amiably and suggested they join.
“How about Chinese? Or maybe I know a good place for gukbap. Come on.”
The senior, who looked like he’d returned from military service, acted like a seasoned veteran and started walking ahead.
“We’re not in the mood for Chinese or gukbap. We came by to stop at a bookstore nearby, so we’ll be going.”
“Enjoy your meal, seniors.”
Tae-Young curtly refused, and Bo-Yoon turned with a friendly smile, bowing politely.
Meanwhile, Shin-Yeon and Kyung-Joo quietly slipped into the adjacent building to keep an eye on things from outside.
“Ugh, the smell of pheromones… I really hate it.”
“Kyung-Joo, you’re an omega too?”
“Yeah, dominant. You’re omega, right?”
“I’m recessive.”
Shin-Yeon wasn’t particularly sensitive to pheromones, even for a recessive omega. Seeing Kyung-Joo’s expression twist, he guessed the seniors had released theirs.
“Want me to spray some pheromone neutralizer?”
“Yeah.”
Shin-Yeon pulled out the pheromone neutralizer Kyo-Shin had bought at a department store and sprayed it for her.
“This smells really good. What brand is it?”
“It’s T brand. This one’s supposed to be the best at neutralizing scent. Smells nice, right?”
Kyo-Shin had tested it at the store and said it suited Shin-Yeon, gifting it to him.
A light, fresh citrus-and-honey scent lingered faintly before giving way to delicate floral and grassy notes.
“There you are! The seniors are gone. Let’s go.”
Bo-Yoon and Tae-Young came over, calling the two out.
Kyung-Joo peeked out the door, saw the seniors had moved away, and grimaced.
“I really hate it. They’re so gross about hitting on people.”
“Yeah… those seniors are kind of pushy.”
From behind Kyung-Joo, Shin-Yeon glanced at the seniors, then noticed Tae-Young lowering his mask to reveal his sharp nose.
Tae-Young leaned closer, sniffing lightly at Shin-Yeon’s hair and neck.
“Did you put on perfume?”
“Oh, it’s a pheromone neutralizer perfume. This one.”
He took it out of his pocket to show him, which also caught Bo-Yoon’s interest.
“Smells like Shin-Yeon.”
After sniffing, Bo-Yoon smiled with his eyes, but Tae-Young snatched the spray back and returned it.
“Let’s just go eat. Put it in your pocket.”
“Okay!”
Putting the neutralizer away, Shin-Yeon led his friends to the Indian restaurant.
“Welcome. Table for four?”
“Yes.”
“Right this way.”
While looking around at the interior and decorations that oozed an Indian vibe, Shin-Yeon took out his phone to snap some pictures.
Then, sitting down with an eager expression, he spread open the menu the server had brought.
“Since I’m buying today, order whatever you want.”
“It’s not that you want everything for yourself?”
Tae-Young teased lightly as he looked at the menu, amused by Shin-Yeon’s bright mood.
“Let’s get the big set first. And order lassi for drinks—it’s really good.”
Following Kyung-Joo’s lead, they chose the dishes and added an extra order of tandoori chicken on the side.
“Indian curry’s different from Korean curry. He’s never tried it before, so order something mild. Do you handle spicy food well?”
“Yeah, I’m fine with spicy.”
“Shin-Yeon, have you had lamb? It can have a bit of a smell… but it’s good.”
When Shin-Yeon nodded, they ordered chicken curry and lamb curry, along with plenty of naan.
A little later, the salad, appetizers, and lassi arrived first.
“Lassi is yogurt? It’s delicious.”
The flavors of the salad and drink were familiar enough that Shin-Yeon ate them easily, pausing only to take quick photos.
I’ll have to show Honey later.
Just then, sitting across from him, Tae-Young lowered his mask.
“Cough!”
“Did it go down the wrong way? Here’s a tissue.”
Shin-Yeon handed tissues to Kyung-Joo, who was suddenly coughing beside him, then glanced over to see Tae-Young sipping from his lassi straw.
With his defined features and striking beauty, the mixed-blood man was stunning.
Shin-Yeon, who’d always thought Seo Kyo-Shin was the most sexy, beautiful, and handsome in the world, was secretly surprised.
A world-class beauty on par with Seo Kyo-Shin really does exist.
“Well, the world’s big, so of course there are plenty of hidden beauties and handsome guys.”
Cough!
Nodding to himself in agreement, Shin-Yeon’s mumbled comment made Han Tae-Young—who was drinking his beverage in front of him—suddenly cough.
“Here, tissue.”
Handing Tae-Young a tissue just as fairly, Shin-Yeon focused again on the fascinating and delicious Indian dishes.
Hwang Bo-Yoon and Park Kyung-Joo kept sneaking glances at Tae-Young with curious, wide-eyed looks.
“Wow, this tandoori chicken tastes really interesting.”
“Dip the naan in curry and wrap it together. It’s good with yogurt sauce too.”
Tae-Young, who hardly spoke at school, had a surprisingly nice voice.
While chatting with Shin-Yeon and helping him with various things, Tae-Young spoke casually.
“You really don’t know much about idols or actors?”
“Yeah. I’m not interested… and when I study, I only search for what I need online. I don’t really watch TV either. Before entering college, I was too busy with a lot of things.”
Shin-Yeon answered, then put a piece of garlic naan topped with lamb and spicy curry into his mouth.
In short, Kim Shin-Yeon knew very little about idols or actors.
“I went to an all-boys high school, and my friends there weren’t interested in idols or actors either. Why? Is there some celebrity in our department?”
After swallowing, Shin-Yeon looked between Kyung-Joo and Bo-Yoon—who were silent—then turned to Tae-Young with a puzzled expression.
“I just thought you’d do well if you became an idol.”
“Me? No way. I can’t sing or dance. I don’t even have any aegyo.”
“…Pfft—hahaha!”
Kyung-Joo, who was drinking water beside him, sprayed it out and clutched his stomach laughing.
“Wow… you guys are hilarious. Oh my, our Shin-Yeon didn’t have aegyo~”
“It’s true!”
“Aww, aww. Here, try this too.”
Kyung-Joo, amused by Shin-Yeon’s sharp reply, playfully fed him some food.
Even without acting cute, Shin-Yeon’s behavior and expressions naturally radiated charm, leaving him with an aggrieved look as he accepted the bite.
“Shin-Yeon, people tell you you’re clueless a lot, don’t they?”
Kyung-Joo teased, prompting Shin-Yeon to wear a serious expression.
“Sometimes…? Am I really that clueless?”
“Haha, oh, you’re so cute. Not that bad.”
“You’re really clueless.”
Tae-Young’s blunt statement wiped the expression clean off Shin-Yeon’s face, reminding him of Seol Yi-Jun’s words:
‘Are you going to keep walking around with just a rice bowl on your neck instead of a head? You want it smashed? Where’d you leave your brain? Let’s go find it.’
“Guess my head really is just a rice bowl…”
Shin-Yeon muttered miserably, realizing Seol Yi-Jun hadn’t just been teasing him.
“Rice bowl? Hahaha!”
“Ahaha! Hey, it’s not that bad!”
All three—Tae-Young, Bo-Yoon, and Kyung-Joo—burst out laughing at once, comforting Shin-Yeon as they enjoyed their meal.
They quickly polished off the food and even drank the dessert tea, a sweet Indian milk tea.
“Wow… that was good. Shin-Yeon, thanks for the meal. Next time, it’s on me.”
After a delicious lunch with his friends, Shin-Yeon paid with his card and left the restaurant.
“Thanks for the food. I’ll treat next time too.”
“No, it’s fine. I’d been curious about Indian food for ages, so I’m glad I got to try it.”
I could come here with Honey next time.
There were still plenty of dishes Shin-Yeon hadn’t tried, but whenever he and Kyo-Shin went out to eat, they always ended up choosing familiar menus.
He’d eventually realized that Kyo-Shin always picked safe dishes because he worried Shin-Yeon might not like or be able to eat something unfamiliar.
I don’t like that.
“Is Thai food good too?”
Shin-Yeon turned to the self-proclaimed “food-is-life” Kyung-Joo to ask.
“Of course it’s good. It’s delicious in a different way than Indian food. Want to get Thai tomorrow after class?”
“We’ve got the opening meeting and after-party tomorrow, though.”
Before Kyung-Joo could answer, Bo-Yoon shrugged and replied.
“Tomorrow we won’t have as much free time as today.”
Checking his schedule, Shin-Yeon made a disappointed face, and Tae-Young—now wearing his mask and cap again—spoke up.
“We can just have it delivered to campus. Let’s go.”
As they walked, Tae-Young lightly pushed Shin-Yeon’s back to steer him, then suddenly whipped his head toward something.
“What is it?”
“…Nothing.”
Bo-Yoon glanced around too, but Tae-Young simply lowered his head again and guided Shin-Yeon forward.
